Our free Exploring Self-Employment Workshops can help you:
- Understand what’s involved in starting a business
- Generate, or validate, a business idea and guide you on next steps
- Make an informed decision as to whether self-employment is right for you
- Begin working with an active business network and learn the importance of the “business ecosystem” to your success
- Walk away with useful knowledge, tools and analysis that can guide your next steps
The workshops are a five-day, 25-hour commitment overall, spread over two or three weeks, depending on each schedule.
Holmesglen regularly runs our workshops online, usually between the hours of 10am to 3pm, to allow people to meet other personal commitments. Some workshops are also available face-to-face in specific locations, depending on enrolment levels and your needs.
People who consider starting a business and are exploring that, even if studying or working at present, may be eligible to explore their ideas with us.
The workshops are an approved activity for people who are receiving Centrelink payments, meaning you will accrue 20 points under the Points Based Activity System (PBAS) for each week you attend. You do not have to be on a Centrelink payment to participate in a workshop, but you will need to be working or studying less than 25 hours per week to be eligible for the service.
See the schedule for proposed workshop dates.
