Entry Requirements

To qualify for this course, students must meet the following requirements:<p> - Hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121 or CHC30113).<p> - English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0 (or equivalent).<br> For equivalent English language tests see <a href="https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility">https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility</a>.<p> - Be at least 18 years old when the course begins.<p> - Must be able to participate in industry placements. A current Working With Children Check card is necessary for placement.<p> - Must be physically capable of fulfilling the practicum requirements.<p> - You may need to provide evidence of the COVID-19 vaccination for placement in an education and care service.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

Classes run from 9am to 4pm - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (four days per week on campus).<p>Learners are required to participate in a total of 300 hours placement, which includes 2 days per week and 7.5 hours for each day, at a Registered Education and Care service. Start and finish times during practical placement will vary between 6.30am and 6.30pm. This structure offers hands-on training, allowing learners to gain practical experience through real-world work placements throughout the course. They will learn in state-of-the-art early childhood facilities, guided by dedicated teachers and industry professionals sharing their expertise.<p>Completion of the course requires fulfilling 15 units, including 12 core units and 3 elective units. Elective units have been selected by Holmesglen based on industry feedback. If you've completed other eligible elective units previously, they may count towards course completion.

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

Additional Course Cost

Up to $30 for external accreditation of Safe Sleeping Certificate (SIDS) (optional)

An additional administration fee may apply where the application is submitted directly to Holmesglen and not through a Holmesglen-approved education agent.
