Frequently asked questions

General enquiries about working for Holmesglen.

All available positions are advertised on the Holmesglen website here. If you don’t find a position of interest but would like to express interest in working at Holmesglen you can email our Talent Acquisition Team via recruit@holmesglen.edu.au

You can apply online by clicking the “Apply” button and following the prompts on screen. You will be asked to upload a cover letter and resume in either PDF or Word Format.

All position related queries can be directed to the contact person specified in the job advertisement.

All full and part time positions have position descriptions which provide detailed information to help you with your application.

All applications should include a resume and cover letter. Some positions will also ask you to address the key selection criteria which is located on the last page of the position description.

Shortlisting

Our shortlists are based on your overall application which includes your cover letter, resume and responses to the key selection criteria. Please note, incomplete applications may not be considered.

We may contact you for the purposes of an initial phone screen which should take no longer than 15 minutes.

Interview

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a panel interview. Interviews are generally conducted face to face at one of our campuses, some interviews may be held virtually in particular circumstances.

The duration of our interviews is 45 – 60 minutes and we encourage candidates to follow the STAR method when responding to interview questions.

Reference Checks

You will be asked to provide the contact details for three referees from your recent work history – if possible, one from your current employer. Referees must have directly supervised or managed you.

We will conduct a minimum of two reference checks.

Compliance documents

Prior to providing an offer of employment, we will request the following compliance documents from you:

  • A current Victorian Working with Children Check (employee) card or receipt of application
  • Certified copies of proof of your eligibility to work in Australia e.g. Passport or Australian Birth/Citizenship certificate and Photo ID
  • Certified copies of qualifications relevant to the position
  • Employees attending certain workplace settings, including health and care facilities, may be required to be meet mandatory vaccination obligations
  • A current police check which is no more than 12 months old (if applicable to the position).

Onboarding

Once a verbal offer of employment has been accepted you will be provided with an email containing a link to review and accept your Employment Contract and associated documents electronically. The Hiring Manager will touch base with you prior to your first day to provide you with further information and answer any questions you have.

VET Teacher’s are required to have a relevant vocational/industry qualification and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent.
