Holmesglen remains open, along with all TAFEs in Victoria, as we are considered an essential service.

However, from Tuesday 24 March until Tuesday 14 April, we will suspend on-campus delivery for all non-apprentice vocational and education training (VET) students.

This action does not apply to:

Students will be contacted directly by their teaching departments by email to confirm the above arrangements, so please ensure you check your emails regularly.

Where essential, on-campus delivery and activities need to occur, we will follow strict social distancing rules.

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is evolving quickly and we will have further updates as they occur.

This follows the Victorian Government's measures announced 22 and 23 March to further reduce the risk of infection and slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Victorian community.  These measures are likely to be in place for at least six months.

Holmesglen is here for you and can help if you are feeling anxious or stressed about the unfolding COVID-19 situation. At this stage, our on-campus Student Wellbeing centres remain open and we are ready with alternatives to comply with social distancing requirements and remote service delivery


Foodbanks are available at Chadstone, Moorabbin and Glen Waverley campuses and we can supply limited quantities of emergency non-perishable items.

Staff and students who may be at increased risk due to underlying health issues or other reasons, are encouraged to seek medical advice about the steps they can take to protect their health and wellbeing.

If you have been tested for Coronavirus, or have been in contact with a case of the virus, please notify the Institute immediately by calling the dedicated Holmesglen Information Line on 9564 1900.  Phone lines are open 8am - 6pm, Monday - Friday.

This will help the Institute facilitate the necessary precautions and steps to safeguard your fellow students and staff, should the need arise. If you are tested negative and are well enough or cleared to return to campus, let us know by calling the dedicated information line, and then please return to campus.

If the test is positive, the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services will be informed, and you should notify the Institute as a priority. The Department of Health and Human Services will work with Holmesglen to  identify individuals that require follow up.

Minimising your risk

Holmesglen continues to act in line with advice from the relevant government departments, and currently, all our campuses remain open. We would like to reiterate the need for everyone in our community to take the necessary precautions should they be unwell.

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) students will not be able use cash to make payments for their course fees. To find out more information, see how to pay for your course fees

In addition to the normal cleaning regime,  further cleaning measures have been implemented at all campuses:

  • Daily disinfection of high-touch point such as lift buttons, handrails and door handles.
  • Cleaners engaged by Holmesglen are using hospital grade disinfectant.
  • Cleaners are adhering to Department of Health, Environmental and Cleaning standards for COVID 19.
  • Cleaning is being conducted during the day as well as after hours. This includes phones and static PC equipment using hospital grade disinfectant.
  • Hand sanitiser is in extremely short supply nationally. We will continue to source and replenish stock.
  •  Soap dispensers and paper towels are being replenished during the day

It is imperative that if you are unwell and presenting with flu or cold symptoms that you stay home, consult with your medical doctor and only return to classes and lectures as advised by your doctor. This is imperative in making sure that our Institute community - staff, students, industry and community partners and visitors - can be assured their health and safety has been safeguarded.

Symptoms may include a sore throat, fever, runny nose and cough. These symptoms, however, are not necessarily an indication that you have the Coronavirus. If you have been in contact with someone who has contracted the virus, consult with your GP or the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398 for advice regarding self-isolation.

What can you do to prevent colds/flu or contracting the Coronavirus?

  • Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly as advised by the WHO
  • Sneeze or cough into your elbows, NOT your hands (if tissue has been used, dispose of the tissue in a bin with a lid).
  • Wipe down shared computers, desks, phones, or laptops using a detergent disinfectant, for example Dettol wipes.
  • Make sure that you and your family get the Flu Vaccine.
  • Distance yourself from unwell individuals (by 1.5 metres).

You may be feeling anxious and have concerns about being on campus. Holmesglen campuses are currently safe environments.
