About the Program
Victoria’s food and beverage industry is world-renowned, delighting both local and global audiences. To tackle the skilled labour shortage in Victoria's hospitality sector, the Victorian TAFE Network, in partnership with Holmesglen Institute, is excited to offer this unique Hospitality Scholarship program. This program helps nurture new talent by offering career opportunities across both regional and metropolitan Victoria, with Holmesglen’s industry-leading training ensuring students are job-ready.
Scholarship Value
Each successful applicant receives a scholarship worth $10,000.
Payment Breakdown:
- $3,300: Paid after course commencement, following the census date or within 11 weeks, provided you maintain at least 80% attendance
- $3,300: Paid at the midpoint of your course
- $3,400: Paid upon course completion, after receiving your statement of attainment and completing a post-course survey
Application Dates
You can apply for the Hospitality Scholarship program twice a year:
- Semester 1: Applications open between November to January.
- Semester 2: Applications open between May to June.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Plan to enrol in and complete one of the following eligible courses at Holmesglen:
- Show ambition and a commitment to working (or having worked) in the hospitality sector, benefiting from Holmesglen's practical, hands-on training.
- Have not previously received a Victorian TAFE Hospitality Scholarship.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a permanent Humanitarian visa with the legal right to work in Australia.

How scholarships are awarded
Scholarships will be awarded based on merit or equity factors. Depending on your circumstances, you'll need to provide supporting documentation with your application.
Merit-Based Applications:
- Show academic excellence in your previous or current studies (e.g., ATAR, Year 10/11, VETDSS, or other TAFE results)
- Demonstrate outstanding performance in the hospitality workplace, supported by a brief recommendation (200 words max) from the employer, explaining how you excel and how the training will further enhance your skills in the workplace
Equity-Based Applications:
- Financial disadvantage
- Living in or planning to move to a rural or regional area
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background
- Living with a disability, long-term medical illness, or mental health condition
- Facing challenging personal circumstances
You may need to provide supporting documents like Centrelink records, bank statements, pay slips, or letters from caseworkers or medical practitioners.

You must select 'Holmesglen Institute' from the dropdown option labelled "What TAFE are you currently or intending to study at."
