Studying the Certificate IV in Fitness at Holmesglen

The course will teach you how to use a diverse range of personal training equipment, operate in different environments (indoors and out), and design programs for one-on-one, group and functional training clients.<p>Personal trainers work in a variety of settings and are largely responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of exercise programs with individual clients or small groups.<p>You'll learn the importance of nutrition, client adherence and how to manage prescribe exercise for clients with specific medical conditions/concerns.<p>Furthermore, it covers the fundamentals of marketing and operating a small fitness business successfully.

Entry Requirements

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

<strong>Timetable: 3 days per week. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 9am to 4pm </strong><p>The Holmesglen Fitness program utilises a ‘hybrid delivery model’ combining the use of both online pre-recorded lectures and face-to-face on campus practical workshops and tutorials.<br> <br>Most theory components are delivered through our online learning management system as pre-recorded lectures, and utilise many activities and resources (both text and video) that are available within this 24hrs, 7 day accessible system. These resources assist you to develop your knowledge in preparation for the practical on campus sessions. During these on campus sessions you will complete all your practical learning and assessment components within our state-of-the-art simulated gym environment. <p>As the student, you are provided with flexibility to balance work, life and study commitments (including complete pre-tasks) prior to attending your scheduled on-campus face to face sessions. To receive this qualification you must complete 17 units, which comprise of 10 core units and 7 elective units.<br> <br>If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.

Additional Course Cost

Students will be required to wear appropriate clothing and footwear when undertaking practical activities. Students are required to supply: <br>* Closed toe, non slip sport shoes <br>* Sports Attire (t-shirts/shorts/track pants) <br> <br>The total cost of these items between $150-$200. <br> <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
