  • BNURS20 Bachelor of Nursing - You will be eligible to enter the Bachelor of Nursing program at Holmesglen with one (1) year of advanced standing.

Studying the Diploma of Nursing at Holmesglen

You will learn in our Simulated Hospital Environment and Immersive Learning Centre at both our Moorabbin and Bourke St Campuses.<p>Our industry-current, qualified Nurse teachers/staff will support you through the course. You will learn through a combination of on-campus theory, simulation activities in a nursing environment, and supported clinical placements in a variety of clinical settings. <p>The range of clinical placements reflects the diverse opportunities for employment for enrolled nurses in the health workforce, which includes aged care, rehabilitation, community, sub-acute, and acute settings.<p>Holmesglen will register all students with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).<p>For information on healthcare workers and students living with blood-borne viruses and performing exposure-prone procedures at risk of exposure to blood-borne viruses, please refer to the<a href= "https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/content/dam/holmesglen/pdf/courses/bachelor/cdna-national-guidelines-healthcare-workers.pdf"> Australian national guidelines (PDF 895KB)</a>.

Entry Requirements

- You must provide evidence of English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 7.0. <br>For equivalent English language tests see <a href="https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility">https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility</a>.<p> - The Diploma of Nursing has entry criteria set by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). All students entering this course must demonstrate they have achieved the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) specified level of English language skills, prior to commencing the course. <p> - Passes at Year 12 or the overseas equivalent, with passes in all subjects including Mathematics.<p> - Students must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of the course. <p> - Prior to undertaking clinical placement, students must have applied for, obtained, and produced a current & valid Australian National Police Records Check, a current Police Records Check from their overseas country of residence (English translation), a NDIS workers screening check, a Working with Children Check in Australia, and be prepared to declare their health, Australian immunisation and vaccination status that includes a double vaccination/adequate COVID 19 vaccination record. <p> - Students will be registered by Holmesglen with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

Classes are scheduled Monday to Friday 4 days per week, each semester.<br>Classes are scheduled between 8am and 8pm<br>All Students can expect to be on campus for a minimum of 24 hours per week.<br>Semester breaks are scheduled into the timetable.<p>The Diploma of Nursing course includes clinical placement, which is arranged for you during the semester or during semester breaks. All students must be available during these periods.<p>To receive this qualification, you must complete a total of 25 units, consisting of 20 core units and 5 elective units. All chosen electives must contribute to valid, industry-supported vocational outcomes.

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
