Studying the Diploma of Justice at Holmesglen

At Holmesglen, you will blend theory with practical learning, gaining an in-depth, working knowledge of the Victorian criminal justice system. Our highly skilled, experienced teachers create dynamic, supportive, and innovative learning environments tailored to your needs. You will participate in guest lectures from federal and state policing, youth justice, community corrections, and the Magistrates' Court.<p>In addition, there are mock court performances and simulated workplace scenarios to put theory into practice. You will also take field visits to justice environments such as the Melbourne Magistrates' Court, Children’s Court, Drug Court, Barwon and Marngoneet Prisons, and Victorian Parliament.<p>Students are informed from course commencement that Working With Children and National Police checks are generally required to work within the justice sector, helping to avoid later complications.

Entry Requirements

It is recommended that you are at least 18 years of age at course commencement.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. As this is an online delivery mode, classes are delivered remotely via Webex, and attendance is required for role plays at designated times. This delivery mode is recommended for students who are currently working in justice or community services, or are familiar with higher study.

Additional Course Cost

Leaners will incur general service fee cost of $70 per semester.
