Entry Requirements

Applicants to this course must be aged 18 or over and are required to have:<p>There are no placement requirements for this qualification. Instead, the practical application and skills-based learning will be facilitated through simulation assessment activities, where hired actors will play the role of clients, service users and NDIS participants.<p>Please note that employment in the Community Services sector may require the following:<br>- a valid Working with Children Check<br>- a clear National Criminal History (Police) Check<br>- a clear NDIS Worker Screening Check (may include or replace a Police Check)
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.<p>These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Read more about Recognition of Prior Learning, Credits and Advanced Standing.

Course Structure

Timetable

Holmesglen provides effective and flexible study options, with both on-campus and online delivery, along with access to online learning resources.<p>For on-campus studies, you will need to attend classes three days a week for one year, from 9.30 AM to 4.00 PM. For online studies, you'll also have online learning tasks to complete.<p>For online learning, you will attend remote classes for three hours on two evenings per week over an 18-month period. You can access and complete additional learning and assessment tasks online. Some on-campus simulation activities will also be necessary to assess the workplace skills you develop.<p>If you choose full-time study:<p>For face-to-face, on-campus delivery at the Moorabbin campus, your timetable will include three days per week.<p>For online or remote delivery, your training will be structured as follows:<p>Two evenings per week.<br>Teacher-facilitated sessions were attended online via the Webex video conferencing app and the Brightspace Learning Management System.<br>New units will be introduced every nine weeks.<br>Simulations and practical assessments will be conducted in five-day intensive on-campus workshops each semester.<p>To receive this qualification, you must complete seven core units and eight elective units. Holmesglen has selected elective units based on industry feedback regarding the skills needed for the job. If you have previously completed eligible units, they may be credited towards this program.

The General Services Fee (GSF) at Holmesglen is a mandatory annual fee applicable to all students enrolled in Certificate I through Advanced Diploma courses. This fee supports various student services such as counselling, welfare support, and learning assistance provided by our dedicated student support and wellbeing teams. Additional Course Cost

Learners will incur general service fee cost of $70 per semester. <br>Concession card holders will be charged a reduced amount of $35 per semester.
