The course is delivered at the Moorabbin campus and provides comprehensive training in assisting health professionals in an operating theatre. This involves:<br>- preparing and maintaining an operating theatre and its equipment<br>- assisting surgical team during operations<br>- providing support to patients in the recovery room<br>- learning appropriate waste management procedures<br>- maintaining cleanliness of operating theatre<p>All our units are taught by practising health professionals who are current and have a wealth of experience in the hospital and health fields.<p>Your learning will be supported through a range of classes, online activities and tutorials. Practical sessions are conducted in our state-of-the-art allied health facility, with simulated hospital and community environments.<p>At the conclusion of study, students will be offered a compulsory two week industry placement arranged through the Holmesglen Clinical Placement Office. Placements aim to give students the opportunity to complete assessments in the workplace as well as provide industry-specific work experience. This experience is an opportunity to both solidify training undertaken at Holmesglen as well as improve students' chances of finding employment upon completion of the course.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
