Studying the Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management at Holmesglen

Throughout this course you will gain experience in a range of conservation and ecological projects including mapping and biodiversity projects, inspecting and monitoring cultural places, re-vegetation projects, pest, plant and animal management, flora and fauna identification and recognition of geological landforms and samples, Ecosystem site inspections, developing interpretive activities and researching environmental issues and maintaining industry WHS processes.<p>The course is delivered through a mix of classroom-based learning and practical field-based work.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>Prospective learners should also have the physical capacity to be able to successfully undertake fieldwork where they may be required to carry light equipment as part of class work and assessments on field trip days. Full time and part time learners should make themselves available for the week long camp.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <trong>Timetable: Full time: 3 days per week </strong><br><strong>Part time: Full time: 2 evenings per week over 24 months as a fast tracked program </strong><p>To receive this qualification you must complete two core units and 10 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry.
