Studying the Certificate II in EAL (Access) at Holmesglen

The 22639VIC Certificate II in EAL (Access) focuses on the development of simple English language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for everyday communication and community participation to enable participants to move into further English language education or vocational training or a combination of both, or employment. The course is intended to provide participants with the following education outcomes:<br>• responding to simple texts in different genres such as information and instructions<br>• conventions of writing simple texts<br>• features and conventions of simple written texts and conversations<br>• simple text and grammatical structures<br>• supporting communication and refining pronunciation<br>• simple vocabulary for different purposes and contexts.<p> Moreover, if you meet the eligibility criteria as an Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) client, you may be able to participate in English tuition sessions without incurring any course fees.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but you should be over 18 years old and from a non-English speaking background.<p>You can enter this qualification after completing the 22639VIC Certificate I in EAL (Access) or an equivalent course. If you have enough English skills, you can also qualify by taking a proficiency test.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.<br>These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
