Studying the Certificate I in Developing Independence at Holmesglen

Students will be highly supported throughout the course, improve their employability and gain access to career guidance, tutoring and employment advice.<p>Teachers guide students through the program, using a one-on-one format to ensure progress throughout the journey. Students will also attend workshops in small groups.<p>A youth worker engages closely with students, while a counselor and/or tutor are available for additional support, as needed.<p>To receive this qualification, you must complete 6 core units

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>The applicant must then be prepared and ready to commence this program within 2 weeks of moving into the Foyer.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

The course schedule is flexible, with varying days per group. Classes run Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 3 pm.<p>Learners are guided by dedicated teachers, receiving one-on-one support to ensure consistent progress. In addition, learners participate in small group workshops. A youth worker will collaborate closely with each learner, while counsellors and tutors are available for extra support.<p>Learners work on weekly tasks, with a combination of face-to-face training and approximately 30 hours of independent study.

Assessment
