Studying the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) at Holmesglen

This course will prepare you to work in industry-standard software development environments through workshop demonstrations and practical hands-on labs and exercises.<p>You will design, code and test programs in a variety of popular and industry desirable programming languages and technologies, including Object Oriented Programming in Python, JavaScript, and C#.<p>Databases are recognised as forming a critical part of business operations, so this course will help you learn how to design, develop and implement a database, and how to query data using MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server.

Entry Requirements

1. Good passes at Year 11 or the overseas equivalent. <br>2. English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0. Students must be at least 18 years old at the commencement of the course.<p>Prior to enrollment or commencement of training, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <strong>Timetable</strong><br>Daytime<br>Monday: Open Lab session from 9am to 5pm (additional support/guidance session for students)<br>Tuesday: 9am to 3:30pm (weeks 1 – 8 only); from week 9 students are required to attend 3 days per week only<br>Wednesday: 9am to 1pm<br>Thursday: 9am to 4pm<br>Friday: 9am to 5:30pm<p>This course is delivered both on campus and remotely via WebEx, at the same scheduled class time. Students can either attend on campus or join the class online.<p>Please note: International students can not attend remotely and must attend on campus for all classes.
