Studying the Diploma of Information Technology (Game Art and Design) at Holmesglen

At Holmesglen, you will gain practical skills from experienced teachers to develop a variety of games, including Virtual Reality (VR), first-person shooters, racing games, real-time strategy games, third-person shooters, role-playing games, side-scrolling games, mobile games, and more.<p>In alignment with the games industry, you will collaborate in teams to create game prototypes and final products for multiple platforms. After thorough testing, you will publish your game on popular gaming platforms such as Android, iOS, VR, PC, and Mac, with the potential to release on consoles like Xbox and PlayStation. This course offers a unique opportunity to engage in an industry-based project with Liminal VR, a Melbourne-based VR developer, where successful projects will be published on the Liminal platform and made available via the Oculus Store.<p>To develop industry-standard games, you will learn C# programming and apply advanced 3D artwork techniques, including character design, prop design, environment design, animation, and visual effects. You will also build skills in 3D sculpting software, enabling you to model and texture game assets to create stunningly realistic visuals for your 3D games.

Entry Requirements

1. Good passes at Year 11 or the overseas equivalent. <br>2. English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Students must be at least 18 years old at the commencement of the course.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
