Entry Requirements

To participate in the Spotters Program at Holmesglen, learners must be currently employed in the industry and meet the following criteria:<br>• Minimum age: 18 years, to satisfy Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) registration requirements upon course completion.<br>• First Aid: Hold a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate (within the last 3 years).<br>• CPR: Complete annual refresher training in HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (within the last 12 months) if HLTAID011 training was completed more than 12 months ago.<br>• Plant or equipment competency: Learners must either:<br> - Hold a High Risk Work licence issued by WorkSafe Victoria for the item of plant they will be spotting for; or<br> - Have a current ticket(s) in the field they want included on their Spotters ticket; or<br> - Hold a certificate/statement of attainment from a relevant training package/accredited course for each item of plant they are training to spot; or<p> - Be a trained dogman/rigger.<p>Learners must present original licences, tickets, and training certificates to the Department for certification upon enrolment.<p><strong>Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) Spotter Requirements:</strong><br>• Minimum age: 18 years.<br>• Current First Aid (HLTAID011, <3 years) or equivalent ESI certificate.<br>• Current CPR (HLTAID001, <12 months).<br>• Current plant/equipment tickets for items to be included on the Spotters ticket.<br>• Completion of an approved Spotter training course.<br>• WorkSafe or equivalent plant operator certificate for the item of plant being spotted.<br> - A trained dogman/rigger may act as a spotter for any type of plant, subject to the above points.<br>• Completion of any additional assessment processes.<p>All eligible spotters must be registered on the ESV database.<p>Note: Holmesglen recommends all learners confirm the latest Spotter requirements with <a href="https://www.energysafe.vic.gov.au/">Energy Safe Victoria</a> before enrolling.
Prior to enrolment you will be required to complete a pre-training review and may be asked to complete a language, literacy and numeracy test. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
