Studying the Grid-connected Battery Storage Systems Designer-Installer Skill Set at Holmesglen

Training is delivered at Holmesglen’s Renewable Energy Training Centre at our Moorabbin campus. The facility includes the installation of new solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations and battery storage to give learners hands-on experience using premium equipment and technologies and experience with residential and commercial systems.<p>The course blends online learning with practical face-to-face on-campus workshops. Learners are required to complete online study and attend a series of on-campus practical workshop sessions. The online study and on-campus sessions are delivered in parallel, by one course instructor.<p>Note: Learners who already hold competencies in the skill set can apply for credit transfer towards the skill set qualification.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible , Learns must be at least 19 years of age.<p>Learners must hold an 'Unrestricted Electrician's Licence' or equivalent, issued in an Australian State or Territory and must hold the unit; UEERE0061 Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems, to undertake this program.<p>Learners must provide evidence of holding an unrestricted electrical licence and the unit of competency UEERE0061 Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems, prior to enrolment in the course.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

8 weeks, includes online self-study plus 4 days on-campus workshops<p>At enrolment, you will be provided with access to our online learning resources, and ongoing support with the course instructor.<p>The course commences with required competencies for site design, designing battery storage systems, and then installation of grid-connected battery storage systems.<p>The online component covers all the theoretical knowledge and assessment required for design and installation of grid-connected battery storage systems. You must successfully complete compulsory online coursework prior to attending a related practical workshop session.<p>Practical Workshops<br>Solar Workshops will be delivered in our purpose-built Holmesglen Renewable Energy Training Centre of Excellence at our Moorabbin campus.<p>Attendance at the practical workshops is compulsory.<br>The workshops will include a review of online content to ensure you obtain a thorough understanding of all design and theoretical knowledge, and cover all the practical requirements and assessment for the course, including installation of grid-connected battery storage systems.

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

Outcomes

Qualification and Recognition

On successful completion, learners who complete/hold all units of competency in the Skill Set will be issued with Grid-connected Battery Storage Systems Designer-Installer Skill Set. Learners who have completed individual units of competency but not the full skill set will receive a Statement of Attainment for units of competency completed in the program.
