The Plumbing Licence for Common Units Skill Set is designed to help learners gain skills quickly through face-to-face lessons, projects, and assessments. Learners can use Holmesglen’s online system, Brightspace, to access learning materials, along with printed exercises for extra practice. Friendly and skilled teachers provide support, making sure learners build the right skills in 16 weeks. Practical training happens in a real or simulated work environment, using industry documents, CAD software, and building codes. Learning is reinforced through quizzes, written tasks, and practice exercises. With strong teacher support and plenty of hands-on experience, Holmesglen helps learners gain the skills they need for the job.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be at least 18 years of age when enrolling in the program.<p>To enter this program, you are required to have completed a Certificate III in Plumbing .
You will be required to complete a pre-training interview prior to your enrolment or commencement of training. These will assist with determining your suitability for the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

This program will be delivered through scheduled face-to-face sessions. The delivery format consists of 4-hour evening classes held twice a week for 16 weeks.<p>The PLUMLICSS1 - Plumbing Licence for Common Units Skill Set comprises mandatory core units, which are prescribed by the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) and must be completed to qualify for a plumbing license. These core units provide foundational knowledge and skills necessary for plumbing work, including legal, regulatory, and risk management concepts, as well as the ability to interpret plans and estimate costs.<br>Core Units (Required for all learners):<br> <br><strong>BSBESB402 – Establish Legal and Risk Management Requirements of New Business Ventures</strong><br>Focuses on legal and risk management strategies for plumbing businesses, ensuring compliance with industry standards.<p><strong>CPCPCM4011 – Carry Out Work-Based Risk Control Processes</strong><br>Covers identifying and controlling risks associated with plumbing work to maintain a safe working environment and comply with safety regulations.<p><strong>CPCPCM4012 – Estimate and Cost Work</strong><br>Equips learners with skills to accurately estimate project costs, including labor, materials, and overheads, ensuring accurate pricing and budgeting for plumbing projects.<p><strong>CPCPCM4015 – Access and Interpret Regulatory Requirements for the Plumbing and Services Industry</strong><br>Teaches learners to access, interpret, and apply regulatory and legislative requirements, ensuring compliance with plumbing industry laws and standards.<p><trong>CPCCBC4012 – Read and Interpret Plans and Specifications</strong><br>Develops the ability to read and interpret construction plans, plumbing specifications, and technical drawings, ensuring proper implementation of plumbing systems.
