Studying the Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-apprenticeship) at Holmesglen
This course has been developed around a hands-on and applied learning approach with a focus on building plumbing skills and knowledge from the beginning. You will be mentored under supervision in face-to-face classes as you progress through the course.<p>Initially you will learn to work safely in the plumbing and construction industry and achieve your White Card, which is required to work on construction sites.<p>Through the guidance and support of your teachers you will then learn to use plumbing hand tools and basic power tools in our workshop. From here you will apply skills to cut and penetrate building materials, and do basic electric welding. These skills will prepare you for the complex tasks of fabricating simple plumbing pipe systems and using plumbing pipes, fittings and fixtures in plumbing installations.<p>The delivery format for this course includes face-to-face classes with theory and practical lessons. You will develop your critical thinking skills to resolve problems experienced in the plumbing industry.

Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
