Studying the Shift Loads Using Gantry Equipment at Holmesglen

You will receive customised, quality training, fully compliant with ASQA standards. Our experienced and qualified trainers provide knowledge and practical exercises required to perform the work of a bridge and gantry crane operator. Participants are required to pass a practical and theoretical assessment.<p>This training qualifies candidates to operate a gantry or overhead crane with three or fewer powered operations, where hoist/raise and lower is one operation. The unit does not enable applications to Worksafe for issuance of HRWL.<p>This course is available to corporate clients. Group bookings of 10 or more can be offered at a discounted daily rate at our campus or at your location (subject to a suitable crane being available). Talk to us about tailored training packages.

Entry Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age<br>• At least 6 months’ work experience in machine operation roles in manufacturing or relevant industry<br>• At least 5 hours experience working on a bridge or gantry crane with 3 movements
Prior to enrolment you will be required to complete a pre-training review and may be asked to complete a language, literacy and numeracy test. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course and identify any learning support needs.
AA pre training review will be conducted which includes an LLN assessment.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. The program consists of one unit of competency TLID0008 Shift Loads Using Bridge or Gantry Crane<p>The unit includes planning for the prevailing working conditions, using controls and operating systems to manage the operation of equipment, and locating and identifying load characteristics. It covers safely moving a load, monitoring controls and stopping, and shutting down and securing equipment after completing operations.<p>Holmesglen delivers this unit on a suitable crane located within the state-of-the-art Victorian Tunnelling Centre (VTC) at our Drummond Street campus. This crane is controlled by a remote pendant.
