Studying the Operate a Bridge and Gantry Crane Licence at Holmesglen

Holmesglen delivers this unit on a suitable 4-motion crane at its state-of-the-art Victorian Tunnelling Centre (VTC) located at the Drummond Street campus, or on the bridge or gantry crane at your work site.<p>In this ideal learning environment, you will receive customised, quality training that fully complies with WorkSafe regulations, and do plenty of practical exercises required to perform the work of a bridge and gantry crane operator. <p>You will learn to have control from a control station on the crane, or remotely control, more than 3 powered operations including load estimation and slinging techniques to move a load.<p>This course is also available for corporate clients. Group bookings of 10 or more can be offered at a discounted daily rate at our campus or your location (subject to a suitable crane). Entry Requirements

• Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card)<br>• Minimum 18 years of age<br>• At least 12 months’ work experience in manufacturing or construction industries<br>Experience types accepted:<br> o Dogging, rigging, or other crane operations ticket with at least 6 months relevant work experience.<br> o Minimum 6 months experience working with a crane with 3 movements.<br> o 25 log-booked hours on a bridge or gantry crane under supervision.<p>WorkSafe Australia stipulates that assessment is conducted in English.
Prior to enrolment you will be required to complete a pre-training review and may be asked to complete a language, literacy and numeracy test. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
