The Certificate III in Glass and Glazing is delivered in Holmesglen’s state-of-the-art facilities, with a strong focus on hands-on, practical training. The glazing stream is ideal for those looking to build a career in the glass and glazing industry, particularly in glass installation for buildings.<p>The program spans 3 to 4 years, blending on-the-job training with classroom-based learning. Apprentices attend block delivery sessions at Holmesglen's campus for face-to-face instruction, practical workshops, and assessments. One-on-one support is provided by trainers through in-person meetings, phone calls, and emails. Holmesglen’s Learning Management System (LMS), Brightspace, offers learning resources like quizzes, instructional videos, reading materials, and detailed assessment guidelines.<p>Workplace visits are organised to help apprentices prepare for assessments, and ongoing communication with trainers ensures continuous guidance. The LMS offers tools such as assessment rubrics and quizzes to help apprentices review essential concepts and sharpen their practical skills.<p>Upon completion, apprentices will be proficient in handling and installing glass across various settings, from fitting mirrors in residential bathrooms to installing specialised glass in commercial buildings. They will also be equipped to read and interpret technical plans, ensuring accurate selection of glass types, sizes, and specifications for each project.<p>This qualification opens the door to a successful career in the glass and glazing industry, preparing graduates to work confidently in both domestic and commercial environments.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>As this is an apprenticeship delivery, all students must have an employer and a valid Apprenticeship Contract in place prior to commencement.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. To receive this qualification, you must complete 23 units in total, comprising of 8 core units and 15 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.<p>If the learner has already completed other eligible elective units, these will be counted towards completion of this program.

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

How to apply

Apprenticeship

Students will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking practical activities and attending site visits.
