The program offers a dynamic blend of theoretical and practical training using current industry equipment, along with industry procedures and documentation to ensure you are industry-ready upon graduation. The course as a whole and each unit individually emphasise procedures and systems of work to ensure worker health and safety.
The planned duration of the course is 12 months, and trainees are required to attend campus approximately 1 to 5 days per month over the 12-month period. Delivery of units is distributed across the year and structured with foundation units on safety, planning, communication, and common work tasks for traffic control being delivered first, and units covering specific skills such as organising site inductions, utilising traffic control equipment, and procedures to work on high-volume roads being taught after learners have grasped the fundamental industry requirements. The course also includes 46 hours of log-booked workplace practical experience managing traffic supervised by a workplace supervisor.
On successful completion of the course, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to work effectively in traffic control in the civil construction environment.
