Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<br>As this is an apprenticeship delivery, all students must have an employer and a valid Apprenticeship Contract in place prior to commencement.
Prior to enrolment you will be required to complete a pre-training review and may be asked to complete a language, literacy and numeracy test. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

• On-Campus Attendance: 1 day per week<br>• Hours: 8:15am - 3:45pm<br>• Duration: 3 years within a 4-year contract<br>• Delivery Mode: A mix of on-campus and workplace learning, with the majority on-campus (face-to-face).<br>• Semesters: 2 per year (1 x 15-week semester and 1 x 16-week semester).<br>• Induction Intakes: February, May, August, and October<br>• Total Face-to-Face Hours: 651 hours (minimum 7 hours face-to-face per week)<br>• Unsupervised Hours: approximately 2.5 hours per week<p>To complete this qualification, you must finish 18 units in total, including 12 core units and 6 elective units. Elective units have been selected by Holmesglen based on industry feedback and staff qualifications.<p>If you’ve already completed other eligible elective units, these will count towards your program completion.

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

Apprenticeship

Additional Course Cost

Students will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking practical activities and attending site visits. <br>The indicative additional course costs for this course are $400-1000. <br>This is for items including, but not limited to: <br>• PPE (safety boots (leather upper), safety pants, work shirt (no singlets), safety glasses, ear protection AS1270 (earmuffs), gloves (Level 5 Cut Resistant Gloves)) <br>• BYO device/laptop approximately $400+ <br>• speciality items such as 150mm steel ruler, chisels 1 of each (6mm, 12mm, 25mm) Final project material <br>• stationery items such as notebook, blue or black pen/biro, HB Pencil, Eraser Steel Tape (Metric 3m/5m) <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
