Holmesglen building design students have won more industry awards in the past 10 years than all the institutes combined that teach the Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural).
Through this course, you will acquire the professional skills and knowledge required for sustainable design, drafting and documentation of residential, industrial and commercial buildings.
Emphasis is on the design process, construction technology, integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM), presentation and production of working drawings, using industry standards and the latest architectural software and virtual experiences.
You will have access to design studios with high-level computer labs, the latest technology, including industrial 3D Printers, Virtual and Mixed Reality.
Architectural Building Design elements will be incorporated in project-based learning; you will have opportunities to develop a variety of skills, including technical and research skills in an environment of self-paced learning, which may include study tours and site visits.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Night-time classes run from 6pm to 10pm.
Full-time students typically attend daytime classes over 3.5 days. However, if required, some daytime classes can be replaced with evening classes.
Part-time students can attend 1, 2 or 3 nights, which would shorten or lengthen the duration of their study. If required, instead of evening classes, part-time students can attend during the day.
Remote delivery: when required by circumstances, face-to-face classes can be live streamed via the Webex platform through timetabled sessions.
Please note: International students can only study full-time and must attend classes on campus.
