Studying the Certificate III in Prepress Graphic Design Production at Holmesglen

You will learn the skills to be a pre-media tradesperson.Typically they design and prepare layouts and artwork, manipulate images and text to meet production and design requirements and apply solutions to a range of problems associated with the print medium.<p>This accredited program is made up of 21 units that have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. Our qualified and experienced trainers offer personalised support to suit your needs. If you have already completed one or more of these units before, these may be counted towards the completion of this course.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>Holmesglen requires learners to be employed and have an Epsilon apprenticeship contract stating Holmesglen Institute as the preferred training provider.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training applicants are required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training review. These will assist with determining suitability to the course, verify the training plan and identify any learning support needs.
To enrol in the ICP31420 Certificate III in Prepress Graphic Design Production course, candidates should exhibit a basic understanding of technology and machinery used in print binding. The ICP31420 Certificate III in Prepress Graphic Design Production is conducted over three years within a four year apprenticeship contract period. <p>The program is structured over a total of 9 block training sessions on campus and 9 workplace visits over three years. <p><strong>Year One:</strong> Focuses on foundational core units, emphasising navigating safety requirements and communication within the industry. Introduction to practical aspects of basic digital print setup.<p><strong>Year Two: </strong>Builds upon first-year knowledge and skills, focusing on more advanced tasks with hands-on experience. Emphasises practical skills in colour management systems and advanced digital print production, integrating principles of safety, sustainability, and efficiency in dynamic printing.<p><strong>Year Three:</strong> Focuses on specialised units, including generating high-end PDF files for online and screen displays. Addresses navigating complex challenges in prepress design.
