Indigenous Student Support (Koorie Unit)

Holmesglen’s Koorie team can:

  • Assist and support Indigenous students
  • Yarn about your personal needs, study needs, career options, including apprenticeships and career opportunities
  • Provide activities and opportunities to engage with Indigenous culture
  • Run the Koorie Scholarships Program (For all Indigenous People)
  • For formal counselling or disability sessions, organise an appointment on your behalf with specialist counsellors and disability support officers

We work with faculties/departments to help them:

  • Improve capacity to satisfy Indigenous students’ needs
  • Enhance staff capabilities in helping Indigenous students

We also support:

  • Accommodation: We have access to various accommodation and rental support options for those Indigenous students dealing with hardship

Community engagement

  • Partnerships with Indigenous organisations: Collaboration with local Indigenous organisations to provide additional resources and support for Koorie students
  • Community events: Participation in community events and festivals to celebrate Indigenous culture and heritage
