TAFE Fees and Funding

Learn more about fees and funding for VET courses at Holmesglen.

Fees for Holmesglen TAFE courses are displayed on individual course pages and are indicative only.

Everyone's personal circumstances are different - and this can affect what you pay for your chosen course at Holmesglen.
The course fee that you will pay will depend on whether you are:

  • Enrolling in a VET or Higher Education course
  • Eligible for a government-subsidised place (for VET courses)
  • A local or international student.

Your course fee is made up of:

  • The tuition fee for the course
  • Material and ancillary fees relating directly to your course, and
  • Miscellaneous fees and charges.

Material and other ancillary fees may include excursions, uniforms, equipment and/or other related fees. The course pages outline the tuition fees payable for each course. VET courses – Local students

Vocational Education and Training (VET) fees apply to courses at certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma qualification levels.

You may be eligible for Skills First subsidised training in a VET course or funded skillset if you meet the following requirements:

Citizenship

  • an Australian citizen OR
  • a holder of a permanent visa OR
  • holder of a humanitarian visa OR
  • a New Zealand citizen OR
  • an asylum seeker:
  • Hold any humanitarian, protection, or refugee visa in Australia, or
  • Have applied for a humanitarian, protection or refugee visa and hold a bridging visa for this purpose, or
  • Have made an application under s.417 or s.48b of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) which is yet to be determined and hold a bridging visa.

Physical Location

You will need to be a Victorian resident and be always physically present in the State of Victoria when you are undertaking the training and assessment.

Course Limits

Skills First funding is limited to:

  • Two courses/skillsets at a time
  • Two courses and two skillsets in a calendar year

Exceptions may apply, so please contact  Holmesglen Assist.  Holmesglen staff are available to determine if you are eligible for concession or subsidised fees.

If you are ineligible for concession or subsidised fees, Holmesglen Assist can provideinformation about assistance for paying your fees.

Concession fee rates are usually 20 per cent of the government-subsidised fee.  They may be available to you if you are:

  • enrolling in a Certificate-level course

  • meet all eligibility criteria

  • a current concession card holder  - or are the dependent of a card holder.  

Concession cards are:

  • Commonwealth Health Care Card

  • Pensioner Concession Card

  • Veterans Gold Card. 

Important: Concession fees for Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs are also available to Aboriginals or Torres Strait Islanders.

The full fee will be applicable if you do not meet the eligibility criteria OR are an international student. A full fee is also applicable if a course is non-accredited - i.e., doesn't include nationally recognised units.

Under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 Schedule 6, requirements for protecting fees prepaid by individual learners, or prospective learners, for services, Holmesglen Institute, as a Government Entity, has implemented a policy addressing learner fee protection arrangements.
This policy details how, if Holmesglen Institute is unable to provide services for which the learner has prepaid, the learner will:

  • Be placed into an equivalent course such that:
    ⦁    the new location is suitable to the learner; and
    ⦁    the learner receives the full services for which they have prepaid at no additional cost to the learner; or
  • Be paid a refund of any prepaid fees for services yet to be delivered above the threshold payment amount, that is prepaid fees for services more than a total of $1500.

Course related

Materials and activities fees are the actual costs of essential materials, equipment, activities and excursions that you will need to complete your course and are over and above the course fees and are not subject to concessions.

Additional costs may also apply for course consumable and other costs. These may include consumables such as learning resources, personal protective equipment/clothing and other costs such as immunisation costs, National Police Check and Working with Children Check for relevant courses. Miscellaneous fees and charges students may also be required to pay include the following:

⦁    Replacement of Certificate of Completion (Short Courses) $20
⦁    Replacement of Statement of Attainment $20
⦁    Statement of Academic Completion (after initial issue) $15
⦁    Replacement of Qualification (Testamur) $60
⦁    ID Card $15
⦁    Replacement of Industry Ticket (card) $20
⦁    Re-mark or re-appraisal of an examination paper $75
⦁    Preparation, validation and mailing of academic records overseas $100
⦁    Mailing out Statement of Attainment or Certificate of Completion $10
⦁    Mailing out qualification to student within Australia $15
⦁    Mailing out certificate/s to student overseas $30
⦁    Graduation attendance fee $100
⦁    Graduation guest tickets >10 days prior to event $20
⦁    Graduation guest tickets <10 days prior to event $40
