VET programs for secondary students

Secondary schools can partner with Holmesglen to provide Vocational Education and Training (VET). This partnership allows your school to offer a wider curriculum, exposing students to more career pathways – and expanding their workplace awareness. All VET programs for school students are consistent with the National Skills Framework (NSF) as part of their VCE or VCAL certificates.

Modes of VET delivery

  • Your school provides the venue and the instructors
  • Holmesglen monitors and evaluates assessment processes and judgments about competence
  • Holmesglen issues student qualifications and/or statements of attainment
  • Students attend weekly VET classes at Holmesglen
  • Holmesglen issues student qualifications and/or statements of attainment
  • Your school delivers some training components and Holmesglen delivers others
  • Specific arrangements are negotiated and will vary from school to school
  • Holmesglen issues student qualifications and/or statements of attainment

What students need to know

  • Application forms: To enrol in a VET, please complete the VETiS application form.
  • Close dates: Applications for 2019 courses close on 1 December 2018. However, we prioritise applications submitted before 30 October 2018. Late applications will be accepted but positions cannot be guaranteed.
  • Next steps: If your application is successful, the relevant department from Holmesglen will contact you regarding start dates and times etc. We will also send a contract to your school four weeks after classes begin. On occasion, classes do not run if enrolments numbers are insufficient. We will inform you as soon as possible if this occurs.
