During the SIS50321 Diploma of Sport with Diploma of Event Management SIT50322 course, you will turn theory into practice by gaining real-life experience at an AFL club, and assisting with junior clinics, community development programs and even match-day experiences.
Your weekly timetable will feature a combination of classroom-based learning, split between Holmesglen’s Moorabbin campus and the Saints’ club facilities, plus one day of integrated activities.
Students will have access to Saints staff to enhance your learning experience through guest speakers, on-the-job work activities and broader engagement via course content.
Guest lecturers from the Saints will share their insights and experiences, such as their journey into the sporting industry, lessons learnt and key professional takeaways. Students will also be given the opportunity to ask questions and interview Saints staff to enhance their learning.
As a student, you will:
- get involved in junior sports coaching and development programs through the Saints community department and their relationships with external stakeholders, such as AFL Victoria, Southern Football Netball League and Sandringham Dragons.
- gain hands-on experience at RSEA Park Moorabbin and Marvel Stadium; at both Men’s and Women’s St Kilda Football Club match-day events.
- assist, alongside St Kilda Football Club staff, at the annual All Nations Gala Day event, the premier event for multicultural football development within Melbourne’s southern suburbs, which can lead to the development of future AFL rising stars.
