Studying the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care at Holmesglen
As part of the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care program at Holmesglen, students develop the skills and knowledge needed to design and deliver educational programs tailored to children's abilities and interests. The program covers the National Quality Framework, including the Early Years Learning Framework, and the compliance requirements of the National Quality Standards.
Students will receive hands-on training and gain practical experience through real-world work placements while learning in state-of-the-art early childhood facilities with dedicated teachers and industry professionals who share their expertise.
Upon graduation, students are well-equipped to take on leadership roles in early childhood education, such as supervising staff and volunteers, and have the potential to progress to positions like Early Childhood Service Director or Coordinator.

Timetable
4 days per week (days vary per group)
Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm
Note: The April intake will only be available at the Waverley campus and the October intake will only be available at the Moorabbin campus.
You must complete 15 units:
12 core units
3 elective units.
Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry.
A practical placement in a registered, education and care service is a mandatory component of the qualification.

Assessment
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
Entry requirements
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a:
• CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
Or
• CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (Academic) with no individual band score less than 5.5 (or equivalent).
Students must be able to participate in assessable industry placements.
A current Working With Children Check card is required for placement and proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for placement by individual centres/businesses.

Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. All fees are indicative only. Holmesglen reviews its tuition fees and charges annually. You will be required to pay the current fee that applies from the beginning of the next study period.
An additional administration fee may apply where the application is submitted directly to Holmesglen and not through a Holmesglen-approved education agent.
