Adult Migrant English Program

The program assists migrants and humanitarian entrants to develop the English they need to settle successfully and participate in Australian life.

The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australia Government Department of Home Affairs.

AMEP provides access to English classes for migrants who hold a permanent resident visa or an eligible temporary visa, until they reach vocational English. Migrants can now participate in the program longer and the previous 510-hour cap has been removed. People who were previously not eligible may now be eligible.

The Holmesglen English Language Centre has been delivering AMEP English classes for more than 20 years and currently we offer classes at Chadstone and Moorabbin campuses.

AMEP is delivered through the following courses:

  • Course in Initial English as an Additional Language 
  • Course in English as an Additional Language 
  • Certificate I in English as an Additional Language (Access) 
  • Certificate II in English as an Additional Language (Access) 
  • Certificate III in English as an Additional Language (Access)
  • SLPET Settlement Pathways Language to Employment and Training
