STUDENT SUPPORT

Discrimination

The health and wellbeing of our staff and students is of the utmost importance to Holmesglen.

We are committed to eliminating any form of discrimination and educating members of the Holmesglen community on ways to manage discrimination if they encounter or witness such behaviour. Discrimination refers to the unfair treatment of a person due to a personal characteristic which is protected by the law. These include:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender identity
  • Sexual orientation
  • Political belief
  • Race
  • Religion
  • Belief of activity
  • Sex

Discrimination based on one of the above points is illegal and against the Institute’s policies and procedures. If you feel you are being discriminated against, it’s important to the Holmesglen’s Complaints and Appeals Officer and/or Student Wellbeing, or to external authorative bodies such as the Fair Work Ombudsman, the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission.

Holmesglen has professional and confidential counselling services across our campuses offering free support to staff and students. Contact Student Wellbeing to make an appointment.
