  • English language proficiency.

Each course has its own minimum admission requirements and these are displayed on the course pages.

Applicant types

Prospective students should demonstrate they are ONE of the following when applying for a higher education course as Holmesglen.
Applicants who

  • have previously studied higher education
  • have previously studied a VET course
  • recently completed secondary education
  • can demonstrate work and life experience.

See below for more details

You may meet the admissions criteria for higher education at Holmesglen if your highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a higher education course, such as a university degree. This includes prospective students who:

  • are currently studying a higher education course at another education provider and wanting to transfer to Holmesglen
  • are currently studying at Holmesglen and wanting to switch to a different course
  • have completed past study with university and non-university higher education providers
  • have completed a bridging or enabling course delivered by, or on behalf of, a higher education provider.

You may meet the admissions criteria for higher education at Holmesglen if your highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a vocational education and training (VET) course. This includes study at Holmesglen or another TAFE or VET provider, whether you completed a qualification or not.

Prospective students with VET study may have other qualifications such as a Year 10 or Year 12 secondary school certificate.

You may meet the admissions criteria for higher education at Holmesglen if you are a recent secondary education student whose admission is primarily based on the completion of Year 12 within the past two years.

But you may also be included if you have completed your senior secondary studies with a TAFE or other VET provider within the past two years - including if you undertook this education interstate or overseas.

Applicants using ATAR for entry to Holmesglen

If you completed Year 12 in Victoria within the last two years and have an ATAR, you may apply for entry to Holmesglen based on your ATAR alone. This includes applicants with ATAR-related adjustments or an equivalent International Baccalaureate Diploma score.

Applicants still need to meet the minimum ATAR for the course they are applying for and demonstrate English language proficiency. Some Holmesglen courses also require additional criteria to be met as well as ATAR.

If you have completed Year 12 within the last two years at an interstate high school, you must have completed an Australian Year 12 Certificate with an ATAR at least equivalent to the minimum ATAR of the course you are applying for, as well as meet other admission criteria.

If you don’t have a high enough ATAR for the course you are applying for, there may be other admission options you can consider.

You may meet the admissions criteria for higher education at Holmesglen if you have work and life experience and left secondary education more than two years ago and have not undertaken vocational education training (VET) or higher education study since then.

Experience includes a combination of factors sufficient to demonstrate readiness for higher education such as mature-age entry, professional experience whether completion of the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT) is required or not, community involvement or work experience.

You may have undertaken non-formal programs that have helped prepare you for tertiary education or are relevant to higher education field of study you propose to to study.
