Scholarships

Holmesglen has a comprehensive awards and scholarships program available to both students and staff. The program is aimed at fostering the core values of the Institute - ASPIRE - Ambition; Scholarship; Passion; Integrity; Respect and Excellence.

Scholarships available to Holmesglen learners

For local students

The Allied Health Assistance Scholarship is for Allied Health Assistance (Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy learners.

The Apprentice Support Fund is for all apprenticeship programs.

Value: Up to $2,000 each Timing: Application open 1 February 2024 and close 24 November 2024.

The Asylum Seeker Scholarship has the following support:

The Holmesglen Access Scholarship is available for all VET programs (Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma)

Value: Up to $2,000 each Timing: Application open 1 February 2024 and close 24 November 2024

The Koorie Access Scholarship is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander VET students (Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma) in all Holmesglen course areas to assist with the cost of Tertiary education.

Value: Up to $2,000 per scholarship Timing: Application open 1 February 2024 and close 24 November 2024

For international students

The Australia Awards  provide opportunities for people from developing countries to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

The Holmesglen International Learner Scholarship  is awarded to current international learners who reflect Holmesglen’s core values of Ambition, Scholarship, Passion, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence.

Value: Up to $1,000 each

Timing:

Round 1 – Applications open 1 April 2024 and close 30 April 2024.

Round 2 – Applications open 1 October 2024 and close 31 October 2024.

The Peter Grundy Scholarship is available to international students studying in Holmesglen’s VET or higher education programs

Value: Scholarships are normally awarded at $1000 each

Timing: Applications closed

External scholarships

The Victorian Government has announced a $270 million nursing and midwifery package providing free degrees, training, and upskilling for nurses and midwives. Students undertaking an undergraduate degree in nursing and midwifery from 2023 to 2024 will be able to study for free, provided they join a public health service after graduation and remain for two years. The Australian Defence Force Cyber Gap Program is a 12-month online program undertaken in conjunction with tertiary study and designed to enhance your skills and employability in the cyber security field.

If you are already studying or looking to enrol in a cyber-related qualification, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) can offer you generous financial support, along with two cyber work exposure opportunities to give you valuable insight into how you can help protect Australia’s online systems and information.

The Building and Construction Foundation aims to unlock barriers to entry and progression in the building and construction industry. It aspires to an industry that is open and accessible for everyone to succeed by supporting students to undertake the education and further development that will help them to take the next step in their career. The Foundation was established by Master Builders Victoria in 2010 as an independent, registered charity to provide funding for scholarships, bursaries and prizes to, or for the benefit of, approved recipients in approved courses.

The Foundation provides financial assistance to individuals through a number of scholarships, with values ranging between $2,200 and up to $10,000. These include the Early Career, Career Advancement, and Leadership Scholarships. The Foundation has also established scholarships in honour of construction industry leader Mario Biasin.

Australian Veterans’ Childrens Assistance Trust (AVCAT) offers bursaries and sponsored scholarships to children and grandchildren of ex-serving veterans.

Long Tan Bursaries are for the children and grandchildren of Vietnam Veterans and are available in each state and territory. The Long Tan Bursary is funded by the Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

AVCAT sponsored scholarships are funded by ex-service organisations and private donors. These scholarships are for children and grandchildren of ex-serving veterans.

All bursaries and sponsored scholarships are for tertiary education.

Value: Mostly $4,000 per year for three years

Timing: Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application from late February through March.
