The SIS50321 Diploma of Sport with SIT50322 Diploma of Event Management combines practical training in sport and event management and is delivered in partnership with the <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/about-us/our-institute/partners-and-projects/local-industry-partners/saints-sports-program">St Kilda Football Club</a>.<p>You'll develop skills in sport coaching, club operations, athlete preparation and event management through classroom learning, applied training, industry workshops and practical placement. Studying the Diploma of Sport at Holmesglen

Study the SIS50321 Diploma of Sport with SIT50322 Diploma of Event Management at Holmesglen's Moorabbin campus, with practical learning opportunities through Holmesglen's partnership with St Kilda Football Club. You'll experience professional sport environments including RSEA Park and other Saints facilities, alongside your classroom learning.<p>You'll take part in community sporting events, coaching activities, Gala Days and St Kilda men's and women's game-day experiences, giving you opportunities to apply your skills across sport coaching, event operations and club environments. You'll also learn from industry professionals through workshops and activities connected to the Holmesglen-Saints partnership.<p>A key part of the course is 150 hours of practical placement, where you'll build experience in professional and community sport settings while being supported by experienced Holmesglen teachers.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the SIS50321 Diploma of Sport with SIT50322 Diploma of Event Management, you must be at least 18 years of age.<p>There are no formal prerequisite study requirements. However, it is recommended that applicants have completed a Certificate III or Certificate IV in sport, fitness, aquatics and recreation, or a related field. Previous experience in community sport, coaching, fitness instruction or event support is also advantageous.<p>You should have an interest in pursuing a career in the sport and events industries and be prepared to participate in both theoretical study and practical, hands-on learning.<p><strong>Physical requirements</strong><p>You must have the physical capacity to safely participate in practical sport and event activities, including event setup, equipment handling and participant coordination, in accordance with manual handling and work health and safety (WHS) requirements.<p><strong>Working with Children Check</strong><p>You must hold a current Working with Children Check before commencing placement, practical training or external activities where it is required.<p><strong>Dual diploma requirements</strong><p>As the two qualifications are delivered together, you'll participate in integrated practical activities across sport performance and event operations.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <strong>Units of competency</strong><p>To achieve the SIS50321 Diploma of Sport, you must successfully complete 14 units of competency: 3 core units and 11 elective units.<p>The SIT50322 Diploma of Event Management component of the dual qualification includes an additional 20 units of competency.<p>Elective units have been selected to support career pathways in high-performance coaching, sport development, and sport program and project management.
