Studying the Certificate III in Beauty Services at Holmesglen

At Holmesglen, we focus on making sure you have a strong customer-service approach when consulting with clients, so you're ready to walk into a job at your future salon.<p>The Certificate III in Beauty Services SHB30121 is a two-year program delivered one day a week on campus and virtual off-campus Webex sessions for four hours per week.<p>In the first year, students will complete make-up artistry skills and manicure/pedicure skills, which includes nail services, make-up and other related salon services.<p>First Aid is also completed in the first year. <p>In the second year, students will complete a higher level of complexity for make-up, as well as completing waxing skills.<p>This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students (previously VETiS ) program and can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCE VM program.

Entry Requirements

There are no specified entry requirements.Students are required to be current school students and enrolled in the VETDSS program in either Year 10, 11 or 12 at one of the schools that Holmesglen has an agreement with.<p>Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you may be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan and identify any learning support needs.<p>Students are required to have basic computer skills, mainly to prepare Word and Excel documents, turn a computer on and off, use search engines such as Google, type documents, and access the Holmesglen learning management system and research topics relevant to industry information and sources.
Computer and internet use skills includes basic Word and formatting/data entry skills required for assessments and client bookings.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. To receive this qualification, you must complete 18 units, which are comprised of 14 core units and 4 elective units.<p>These elective courses have been chosen to assist the students' career aspirations of becoming beauticians and to equip them with the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform a variety of beauty services in the workplace after graduation.<p>Students participate at Holmesglen for 4 hours per day, one day per week, in both theoretical and practical classes.<p>The classes are combined face-to-face on campus with virtual off-campus 'clustered' classes.
