Coordinating festivals, weddings, conferences, special events or functions requires certain skills.

This course aims at providing a real insight into the events industry and the skills and knowledge required to be successful in this career.

This course is a VET delivered to secondary students (previously VETiS) course and can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCAL program.

Throughout the course you will learn how to communicate event ideas, gather information, plan and organise activities, work in teams and solve problems.

In your first year you will develop and promote a special themed event, put an event proposal together for an 'in house' customer and organise an end of year event.

The focus for the second year is to further develop your skills and knowledge of the events industry, by running a larger Holmesglen in house event. This will further develop your skills in meeting management, team building, client liaison and coordinating events.

This course is a great introduction into the SIT50316/CUA30415 Diploma of Event Management/Certificate III in Live Production and Services where you will continue to extend the skills and knowledge you've gained for this industry, and ultimately run your own events.

This intensive business events program is delivered as a flexible, student-focused night course which includes a blend of classroom activities and online study.

The course represents the next stage in your professional pathway. It is designed for mature-aged students who are currently organising business events in the corporate, small business, non-profit and government sectors.

It is suitable for personal assistants, executive assistants, professionals in the industry who are looking at formalising their qualification, and anyone with previous experience and a passion for business events.

This innovative course provides you with the opportunity to work with industry professionals, gaining the skills and knowledge you need to create, develop and stage business events with a focus on conferences, event registrations, venues and destinations, and event protocols.

It also offers hands-on access to a variety of event management software programs to help you coordinate and manage successful business events.

The course is created to ensure that you will have the vital skills to coordinate and manage a successful business event.

This course has been developed with a strong focus on industry placements at festivals and stadium productions. You will work very closely with industry experts to gain the skills and knowledge you need to create, develop and stage special events while managing your team in an efficient and productive manner.

With events, it's all about the hands-on, practical experience and Holmesglen's events department is a recent winner of the 'Best Education/Training Program' at the Australian Event Awards and the Victorian Training Awards.

Our students are tasked with the production of the Victorian State Schools Spectacular, held annually at Hisense Arena, as well as large scale cultural events, including:

- White Night Festival,
- Melbourne International Comedy Festival,
- Christmas Festival of Lights,
- Adelaide Fringe Festival,
- Melbourne Cup Carnival.

You may also get the opportunity to work on delivering major community festivals with local government partners and get backstage access to various sites through a number of local, and interstate events. There are also opportunities for international travel throughout your studies.

With the integrated Certificate III in Live Production and Services, this course ensures you have the creative production skills that are a vital addition to an event professional's skills base.

After successful completion of the course, you will have developed the contacts and obtained the valuable experience that can open the doors to a successful career in event management. Holmesglen graduates have gone on to work for events such as the St Kilda Festival, Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, Australian Open, Melbourne Cup Carnival, White Night, major music festivals, business conferences and venues

Professional program:
There is also an evening classes program of this dual course, designed for mature-aged students with some previous experience in the events or a related industry or demonstrated skills gained through employment.
