Studying the Course in Initial Adult Literacy and Numeracy at Holmesglen

Are you at least 16 years old? Do you want to study something creative and improve your literacy and numeracy skills? Did you attend a specialist school or have support from a teacher's aide in class? This course gives you the opportunity to take part in a range of subjects that align with your interests.<p>Students studying this course choose one specialisation stream:<br> - Drama and Performance <br> * Students undertaking the drama stream of this program will be part of a Holmesglen drama production in October.<br> - Creative and Sensory Writing<br> - Games Design<br> - Adventure Sports<br> - Hair and Beauty<br>Note that availability of specific streams is dependent on enrolment numbers.<p>This one-day program can also be undertaken as an additional day for students participating in either the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (with support) or the Certificate in Transition Education

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>Students must be able to show evidence of a diagnosed intellectual disability or specific learning difficulties requiring additional support.
You will need to have:<br> - a desire to complete the course.<br> - interest in gaining employment, progressing to further study or taking part in community life.<p>You will need to come to a meeting with a parent or carer to find out if the course will meet your needs. Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
