Studying the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care at Holmesglen

At Holmesglen, you'll learn from experienced teachers with extensive knowledge of early childhood education and care in a supportive and practical learning environment. Through a combination of classroom learning and 180 hours of practical placement, you'll develop the skills, confidence and industry experience needed to work effectively in early childhood settings.<p>Students have access to modern learning facilities, library resources, digital learning tools and student support services designed to support academic success and professional growth. Practical placement opportunities allow you to apply your learning in real-world education and care settings while building valuable industry connections and workplace experience.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of the program.<p>Students must be able to participate in assessable industry placements to successfully complete the course. A current Working With Children Check card is required for placement and proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for placement by individual centres or businesses.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Learners will participate in 4 days per week of structured learning, combining face-to-face classes and practical placement.<br>• Classes are scheduled from 9.00am to 4.00pm <br>• Training and assessment are delivered through a combination of clustered and stand-alone units <br>• Learners must complete 180 hours of practical placement in a Registered Education and Care Service <br>• Placement is typically undertaken 2 days per week during Terms 2 and 3 <br>• Placement shifts may vary and can occur between 6.30am and 6.30pm, depending on the service provider

Learners may be required to obtain a Victorian Police Check for the practical placement. Cost between $30-$89
