The Certificate IV in Mental Health will provide the skills necessary for workers who will work with people affected by mental illness and psychiatric disability by providing self-directed, recovery-oriented support.

Studying the Certificate IV in Mental Health at Holmesglen
The program will prepare students to become community mental health professionals, implementing community-based programs and activities related to mental health, mental illness, and psychiatric disability.
This blended learning model will offer students the flexibility of doing the online course content which is then applied in class in the form of immersive simulations, case studies and also on practical placement.
Course structure
To receive this qualification, you must complete 15 units in total, comprising of 11 core units and 8 elective units, which have been chosen in consultation with our Mental Health Industry partners.
Students will need to undertake 80 hours of placement in order to qualify. Placements are organised by Holmesglen.

Assessment
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
Entry requirements
Students must be 18 years at course commencement
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist with determining your suitability for the course, verifying your training plan, and identifying any learning support needs.
Applicants will need to be able to obtain a satisfactory volunteer Working with Children Check, a National Police Check, and you may be required to apply for an NDIS Worker Screening Check prior to undertaking the mandatory work placement.
Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
