Overview
This free skillset course, Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry, is an initial induction course that allows workers access to construction sites where a site specific induction is undertaken.

This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the minimum health and safety expectations imposed on them when undertaking systems of work on construction sites.
It assists participants by giving them the basic skills and knowledge to work safely in the construction industry as well as allowing them to meet the requirements of introductory safety training.
Participants are required to demonstrate personal awareness and understanding of Health and Safety legislative requirements, communication and reporting processes, common construction hazards and risk control measures and the basic incident and emergency procedures.

Assessment
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
Entry requirements
This free Construction Industry Skill Set is available to eligible applicants who wish to commence work in the construction industry.
To be eligible, you must be an Australian Citizens or Resident. You can enrol in three Construction Industry Skill Set. View the range of Construction Industry Skill Sets we offer.
Participants must complete a language and literacy test before attending class.
Students are required to bring their own personal protective clothing and equipment (PPC&E) including:
- high visibility vest
- safety glasses and hard hat.
A white card is mandatory to enter a construction site. If you prefer to apply for another free Construction Industry Skill Set, you can still enrol and pay for the White Card course. View the White Card course details.

Outcomes
Qualification and recognition
On completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment in CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
