Studying the WHS course for Managers at Holmesglen

Students will learn strategies to ensure a safe and more productive workplace and to comply with OHS/WHS regulatory requirements and issues.<p>Managers and supervisors have considerable responsibilities and duties in regard to occupational health and safety. This program has been developed to provide an overview of the knowledge and skills required to prevent workplace injuries and to manage a safe workplace. It covers leadership safety duties and responsibilities under the Act.<p>Group bookings of 10 or more can be offered at your location or at one of our other campuses.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>Participants must:<br>attend the full course<br>provide photo ID (Driver's Licence, Learners Permit, Student ID card or Passport)<br>bring pen and paper.<p>Enrolment in this course closes three business days prior to course commencement, therefore, payment is required before then.
There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Course Structure

Timetable

This course is delivered over one full day and uses a blend of face-to-face theory and practical training activities.<p>You will learn how to:<br>Apply knowledge of occupational health and safety legislative frameworks, compliance codes and AS/NZS/ISO standards to a workplace; <br>Describe the roles and responsibilities of employers and employees in OHS/WHS; apply the principle of ‘reasonably practicable’ to workplace situations;<br>Describe strategies to identify, assess and control workplace hazards to ensure a safe workplace; apply the principles of risk management to workplace hazards; <br>Describe the consultative structures and the process for resolving health and safety issues in the workplace and the role of WorkSafe inspectors, their powers and issue resolution functions; <br>Describe how to undertake investigation, risk assessment and risk control of workplace incidents/accidents, and the application of Leading and Lagging Indicators.
