Studying the Diploma of Leadership and Management at Holmesglen
This course encompasses innovative approaches to managing teams, projects and budgets. It enables students to plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable challenges.
This course is targeted to those who are currently managing staff or are working towards a career in management. We teach you to manage budgets, financial plans and risk, to develop and use emotional intelligence, plan market research and more in preparation for a career in a managerial or supervisory role.
Confident leadership is rooted in a strong understanding of the latest management processes. That's why through this course, you'll learn how to effectively oversee the work of others - while shaping the management practices of tomorrow.
Monday and Wednesday 6pm to 9pm
Students will study a new subject each month, taking them up to a year to finish the qualification.
*Students will be required to attend campus for the first Monday and Wednesday evenings of the month they start.
Thereafter, students will study mainly independently with online remote learning sessions scheduled throughout the month.
To receive this qualification you must complete four core units and eight elective units.
Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.
If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
It is preferred that students have 2 - 3 years' work experience or have completed VCE or have completed BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business.
Students are also expected to have skills in Microsoft Office Suite - using Word, Excel and Powerpoint - to assist with report writing and presentations, which make up part of the various assessment tasks to be completed within the course. Internet research skills are also required.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
