The Certificate III in Automotive and Marine Trimming Technology provides comprehensive training in vehicle and marine trimming. You will learn to make, install, repair, replace or modify the seats, upholstery, linings (roof and door linings), interior trim and floor coverings of a vehicle.

This work can be undertaken on cars, trucks, vintage vehicles, buses, caravans, trains, aircraft and boats.


Course structure

To receive this qualification you must complete 11 core units and 19 elective units.

Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.
If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.

ASSESSMENT

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. APPRENTICESHIP

A training contract must be completed by the employer and apprentice within the first two weeks of employment.

A representative from the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network will visit the workplace to complete the training contract with the employer and the apprentice.

Furniture and Upholstery Open Days

If you are curious about furniture making but not sure if it is right for you; or if you want to get the skills and industry experience to set your self up for an apprenticeship, a Certificate II might be the first step. A pre-apprenticeship program is designed to teach you the basic skills required by industry, You'll get a taste of what the apprenticeship will involve as well as what working in the field is really like. By completing a pre-apprenticeship you'll also reduce the length of your apprenticeship. Visit us on Open Day at 6.30pm for a formal presentation highlighting the unique elements and importance of each of the building trades. Following the presentation there will be a tour across each of the trades workshops with teachers available to answer any specific questions.
