The CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) develops the technical, practical and management skills needed to take on greater responsibility in Australia's building and construction industry. You'll build skills in construction project management, building codes and standards, contracts, cost estimation, risk management and site operations, while developing the leadership and problem-solving skills to coordinate building projects and manage teams and subcontractors. You'll also explore sustainable construction, emerging building technologies and regulatory requirements, building the knowledge to contribute to residential and commercial building projects.

The CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction at Holmesglen offers a perfect blend of in class activities and simulated practical training.<p>Our trainers are registered building practitioners with extensive experience, who bring their insights directly from the field into the classroom. This ensures you are prepared for leadership roles in the diverse building sector.<p>From on-campus learning to onsite excursions and industry speakers, you will benefit from a study environment that balances theory and practice.<p>Our program covers project management, building codes, cost estimation, and construction technology, equipping you with the skills needed to work in site supervision, and understand building codes and technologies.

Entry Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.<br>• Completed at least Year 11.<br>• Interested in working in the building and construction industry.<br>• Possess adequate literacy and numeracy skills (minimum BKSB Exit Level 3 in English and Maths).<br>• Understand that the course may lead to jobs involving outdoor work, working at heights or underground, and may require physical labour.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Additional Course Cost

Expenses that may occur: <br> <br>When onsite excursions are scheduled, students will need to provide the following personal protective equipment: <br>- Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) <br>- Safety pants <br>- Work shirt (waist-length jacket, if cold) <br>- Safety glasses <br>- Hat for sun protection <br>- Sunscreen (if exposed to sunlight) <br>- Safety gloves (if handling building materials) <br> <br>The estimated total cost of these items ranges between $200 and $250. <br> <br>It is recommended that students obtain a construction induction card (White Card) before starting the course. This requires completing a one-day course at Holmesglen or another accredited training provider, with costs ranging between $150 and $200. <br> <br>Detailed lists of consumables and equipment will be provided upon enrolment. Students have access to computers in tutorial classrooms. <br>- USB-connected headset (if using class computers while the teacher is remote): $55 <br> <br>Recommended additional items: <br>- Recommended book - "Building Your Own Home" by George Wilkie: $40 <br>- A suitable home computer capable of running Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required for homework. Office365 is available for free, and Microsoft Project will be available on the classroom computers. <br> <br>Total equals $695
