Building design students honoured at BDAV Awards
Two Holmesglen students have received esteemed industry recognition following the presentation of the 2017 Building Design Association of Victoria Awards.
Bruno Gusmao and Liyan Shi were recognised in the 'Emerging Designers' field at the official ceremony, which was held at Melbourne's National Gallery of Victoria.
Bruno was announced as winner in the 'Best Digital Presentation by a Student' category, while Liyan received her accolade in the 'Drafting Excellence by a Student' class.
The annual awards highlight the significant achievements of leading individuals in the building design industry.
"It means a lot to me. Professionally, it means that my design is now more exposed and recognised, while personally, it`s the recognition for all the hard work and effort that I put into this project," Bruno said.
"Bruno's digital presentation was of an exceptionally high standard, with an incredibly realistic 3D depiction of his design," the BDAV Awarded Guide mentioned.
The program also commended Liyan for her hard work when writing, "The extensive drawing set prepared by Liyan [demonstrated] a high level of understanding in the materials, processes and construction methods of a complex built form."
Following the awards, Holmesglen's Applied Building Technology department thanked the teachers who helped both students prepare their winning submissions. Katalin Szabo, David Hulett and Marjan Cehovin provided tireless assistance throughout the process.
