Apprentices win Master Builders of Victoria Awards

Two of our apprentices, David Van Keeken and David Williams, were among those celebrated at the 2018 Master Builders of Victoria Awards.

The passion of both were recognised with respective accolades at the ceremony held at Etihad Stadium. Treasurer of Victoria Tim Pallas was in attendance to honour the achievements.

David Van Keeken received the Wall and Floor Tiling Apprentice of Year, while David Williams was presented with the same award title in the stonemasonry field.

"It's great to be recognised for all the hard work I've put in over my apprenticeship. This award will always be a reminder to me that anything can be achieved with hard work and perseverance," said David Van Keeken.

He was also keen to thank his teachers for the support given during his training.

"It was a massive advantage to have two teachers share their trade knowledge and constant positive support. I wouldn't be where I am without the skills I have learned at Holmesglen."

Master Builders Victoria President, Melanie Fasham was equally enthused by the quality of the evening's winners.

"One of the most important investments Victoria can make is in the training and skills of young people in the building and construction industry. For young men and women, there has never been a better time to pursue a building career. A great trades education is second-to-none," she said.
