Studying the Bachelor of Sports Business at Holmesglen

The course has four streams: sport management, commercial sport, sports media, and sport development. This ensures graduates will be able to work in a variety of roles including professional sport, sports leagues, sport consultancy, government sport agencies, sports venues and sports event companies. <p>The course offers significant internship opportunities where students work in sporting organisations. There is also significant industry engagement: guest speakers, field trips and the 228 hour internship with one of our sports organisation partners. <p>This degree facilitates real world industry opportunities for students, ensuring they learn more and do more and are prepared to achieve their career goals in the sports industry.<p>The academic staff have extensive industry experience in business, management, marketing, sponsorship, venue management, government and media.<p>At Holmesglen, we are committed to supporting our students to achieve their learning goals, so we provide small classes with hands-on experiences. With small classes, you won't be lost in the crowd. You'll soon get to know your fellow students and feel part of Holmesglen - and your teachers will know you as an individual.

Course Structure

Timetable

<strong>Timetables:<br>1st Years - FT: 3 days per week, Monday 9am-4pm, Tuesday 9am-12pm, Wednesday 9am-1pm.<br>2nd Years - FT: 3 days per week, Wednesday 2pm-5pm, Thursday 9am-4pm, Friday 9am-12pm.<br>3rd Years - FT: 2 days per week, Tuesday 1.30pm-9pm, Thursday 1pm-4pm.</strong><p><strong>Mode of study:</strong> Full-time, on-campus face-to-face delivery.<p>All new students commencing in a higher education course must attend their faculty course orientation and Holmesglen's higher education orientation.<p><strong>Major studies</strong><br>Sport management, athlete management, social media, sport business, sport development and coaching, sport event tourism, sport media, sport sponsorship, sport venue and event management, sports governance, sports marketing.<p><strong>Work placements/internships</strong><br>In the third year of the degree students are required to undertake a 228 hour (six-week full-time equivalent) internship which provides experience to assist with a seamless transition into the workforce upon fulfilling the course requirements. We have some of Australia’s leading sports organisations as internship hosts including Melbourne Stars, AFL Victoria, Cricket Victoria and Basketball Victoria.<p>This course is comprised of 23 subjects: 20 core subjects and three elective subjects.

Student Services and Amenities Fee $351 Per Year

All local higher education students are required to pay a compulsory Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). This fee contributes to the cost of providing student support services including counselling, welfare services, learning support and other activities provided by the student support and wellbeing teams. The SSAF is charged each semester and the amount you pay depends on whether you’re a full time or part time student. The annual maximum amount is set by the Government and will vary according to your study load. Students studying on campus and online will be charged the same SSAF based on their study load. All local higher education students are required to pay this fee at the time of enrolment.
