International student welcome programs

At the start of each semester, Holmesglen runs welcome programs for new and returning international students. During this program, you will receive important information and resources to support your studies and your life in Melbourne.

We will help you register for your classes, obtain your timetables, get student ID card and familiarise yourself with all student support services available to you.

What to expect?

Head start program 

Students commencing their Higher Education studies at Holmesglen will be required to attend our Head Start program. This two- week intensive program prepares new students who are commencing Higher Education for their degree-level study. It provides a strong foundation for success and ensures that students commence their courses with confidence.

The program integrates social and academic support and includes: Introduction to the degree; Language, Literacy and Numeracy support; 'Get to know you' and social activities with fellow students; Introduction to the Mentoring and Buddy system.

Transition program from VET to Degree program

Holmesglen runs a two to three-week intensive program providing a transition from VET to degree courses. Students entering with credits from pathway programs are given social and academic support to ensure they commence their degree course with confidence.

The program provides students with specific subject content required as preparation for the degree they are undertaking. Social and academic support is integrated in the program that includes: Introduction to the degree; Language, Literacy & Numeracy support; 'Get to know you' and social activities with fellow students; Introduction to the Mentoring and Buddy system.
